Author's Note: At The Podium Finish, we always strive to bring the best quality articles, insights, and thoughts with the world of racing. With that said, I'd like to welcome a familiar face to the blog entry and you may know her from last year.
Since then, she's really become one of my loyal compadres in the racing scene and without further ado, I hope you all give a warm welcome to our newest contributor - from Bothell, WA, let's meet and greet Kerstin Smutny on her first column!
Hi there, racing fans!
This is my first blog entry for The Podium Finish and I look forward to what lies ahead with the site! Rob Tiongson is a good friend of mine and has been gracious enough to have me as a permanent fixture on the BlogTalkRadio version of The Podium Finish.
He has also asked me to be a part of the website so I am going to do a weekly blog and come up with some fun interesting stories about NASCAR from the driver's perspective.
If you are one of our loyal listeners of the radio show, then you already know a little bit about my racing history but if not, I will give you a little recap over the last 14 years of my racing career.
I have been racing since the age of seven and have known since the day I stepped foot in a race car that this was what I wanted to do for a living. I had been going to races with my Dad from the time I was a year old. I had tried all the “normal” girl sports such as gymnastics, cheerleading, and dance and had quit every single one of them - that is, until at the state fair in 1997.
There, I saw a display for quarter midget racing, went out to a ride day, and that’s the end of it. I’ve gotten the opportunity to race a lot of different cars over the years and not only enjoy being the in car, but I love every aspect of the sport.
I hope you enjoy my contributions to the website and I promise to keep in fun, fresh andexciting. As we say on our live podcasts, "LET'S GO RACING!"
See 'ya round.
